Products
Whether spring steel, precision or service strip: at BWS, you benefit from over 200 years of experience in the forming of steel. High-strength, wear-resistant, precise, exceptional flatness and outstanding surfaces, BWS is your competent specialist in the rolling and heat treatment of stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, titanium and carbon steels. In its own cold rolling mill, BWS produces precision strip and spring steel in dimensions from 0.03 mm to 4.5 mm with tensile strengths of up to 2200 MPa and narrow thickness tolerances. In the BWS ServiceCenter, precision and service strips with high tensile strength levels are slit in accordance with the tightest width tolerances and the edges are subsequently processed by rounding and rolling.
Spring steel
BWS produces stainless, temper rolled precision strip, high-carbon cold-rolled strip and nickel strip in spring steel analysis from high-quality feedstock using the latest rolling technology. In addition to thickness, thickness tolerance and flatness, tensile strength, yield strength and elongation are set as essential spring material properties. In the integrated service area, extensive finishing is carried out regarding widths, edges, surfaces and packaging.
Our stock range for stainless spring steel, which is unique in its scope, also in thicknesses above 1.50 mm and below 0.10 mm, as well as a large number of different specifications that can be supplied at short notice, make BWS the leading supplier in this segment throughout Europe. Our scope of supply also includes technical specialties such as hard temper rolled spring steel and finishes optimized for further processing.
Specialty
Application
Technical springs are used in almost all industries. Customers in the automotive and electrical industries use our spring steel to produce fastening elements and connectors, among other things. There are numerous other applications in the tooling industry and for safety engineering. Everywhere where there is something to fasten or move.
Precision strip
Cold rolled Strip produced in BWS’s own cold rolling mill from stainless steel, or also in nickel and titanium alloys, with the narrowest thickness tolerances and good flatness, which is finally annealed to achieve specified mechanical/technological properties such as deep-drawing and metal forming capability. According to customer specifications, the strips are cut to width at the BWS ServiceCenter; in addition, edges, surfaces and specification can be customized individually.
Optimized precision strip for further processing in CAF quality offers manufacturers of deep-drawn parts the opportunity to further improve processing procedures for particularly critical deformations and to reduce production scrap metal.
Specialty
Application
In the automotive industry, BWS precision strip is used to produce deep-drawn parts and seals, stamped and bent parts. The material is also used in the production of high-temperature sensors, fiber optic cables and resistors in the electrical engineering and electronics industry. In this industry in particular, further processing by stamping-bending and etching plays an important role. In medical technology, precision strip is used to manufacture syringes and cannulas, among other things. Furthermore, there are numerous applications in chemical and plant engineering, in the production of pipes and heat exchangers, in filter technology, welding technology, battery technology, for the production of fuel cells and many other industries.
Service strip
Service strip/slit strip made out of cold-rolled stainless steel, nickel and titanium alloys is produced at the BWS ServiceCenter in customer-specific widths and lot sizes with different edges and surfaces in any delivery form and specification required by the customer. Even for demanding dimensions, e.g. very thin (from 0.30 mm thickness) and very narrow strip (from 3.00 mm width) – customers will find a high-performance partner in BWS. In addition to standard grades such as 1.4016, 1.4301, 1.4404, 1.4571, BWS also processes special grades, e.g. 1.4307, 1.4509, 1.4512.
BWS is a leader in the industry of edge trimming. Through special services, such as the welding of individual coils into spools or multi-rings, we enable our customers to achieve significant increases in productivity. For optimized processability at the customer’s site, delivery in the form of bars is also possible. For the individual processing purposes of our customers, such as laser cutting, delivery in bar or sheet form provides another supply possibility.
